Indica Times Style Guide
Language
British English.
Capitalisation
- Title-style capitalisation for all headings except the secondary heading for the lead story.
- For headings, except the secondary heading for the lead story, capitalise the second part of a hyphenated word only if it is a major word (noun, verb, adjective, adverb, or pronoun) and can stand alone.
Verbs
Mood
- Imperative for the concluding sentence in Your RPG Character This Week, Your Warrior Profile This Week, and Indica Helpline.
- Indicative for everything else.
Voice
Keep prose passive. Use active only if the subject of the sentence must be at the forefront.
Personal nouns
- If a name has a personal name followed by a patronymic or matronymic, use the full name in the first instance and only the personal name for subsequent occurrences. If their name has a single word, use just that word.
- If a name contains an epithet or alias, use the full name in the first instance and only the epithet for subsequent occurrences.
Numbers
Use numerals. When a sentence starts with a number, rephrase so that the numeral isn't the first word in the sentence.
Punctuation
- Use the serial comma.
- Use double quotation marks.
Text formatting
- No italics except for the first sentence in Indica Helpline and the translation of the hymn for the week.
- Bold for the concluding sentence in Your RPG Character This Week and Your Warrior Profile This Week.
Everything else is handled by the CSS.
